Wrestler turned actor Dave Bautista has said that fans may no longer see him in the Drax the Destroyer role after “The Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3”. It may also be the end of the character in the MCU unless plans change.
According to his recent statement, he says that the coming film marks the end of his contract with Marvel. “I mean, as far as my obligations, I’ve got Guardians 3, and that’s probably going to be the end of Drax,” Bautista says as quoted by Cinema Blend.
He had been optimistic about continuing his role in the superhero franchise even revealing that director James Gunn had planned a solo film for Drax and Mantis.
“There were talks for a while about a Drax and Mantis film. It was really because it was James Gunn’s idea. He really wanted to do a Drax and Mantis film,” the retired wrestler said. “He laid it out to me. I thought it was such a brilliant idea, but I haven’t heard any follow-up from the studio. I don’t think they’re very interested, or it doesn’t fit into the way they have things mapped out. But other than that, no.”
The end of Dave Bautista as Drax may mark the beginning of him reprising his role as Scott Ward, a mercenary and founder of Las Vengeance, if Zack Snyder is able to turn “Army of the Dead” into a continuous franchise.
