Liverpool have ridden into the clouds and now need to get a good result against Spartak Moscow in their next Champions League outing to move to the knockout stages after they repeated their impressive showing against Maribor last time. Meanwhile, Sevilla stay second after they beat the Russian club who had demolished them last time. The group remains open as the three top teams (Maribor being ousted) have 3 points between them.
Group F leaders, Manchester City show class against a stubborn Napoli side as striker Aguero became their all-time goal scorer in all competitions. Shakhtar Donetsk also produced a result that helped City qualify for the round of 16 and they only need to grab a point in their last two group games to join the leaders as Napoli who have been impressive locally are on the brink of abandoning the competition for the Europa League. Feyenoord are still yet to get a point this term.
Monaco who took the football world by storm last season have been lackluster and now sit bottom with just two points in Group G, while Besiktas maintain their unbeaten run and will most likely qualify with their fixtures remaining Porto and RB Leipzig. Leipzig however still stumbles as they were dominated by a revitalized Porto team. The last three still have much to play for and future matches promise to be entertaining.
The match of the day produced a fantastic showing (unless you are a Madrid fan). Tottenham qualified into the round of 16 after they comfortably beat Real Madrid despite Harry Kane looking not fully fit. Dortmund however failed to take advantage of the Spanish giant’s turbulent times as they repeated last fixtures result again against Apoel Nicosia. Real Madrid is now second and need at least one win to qualify in a surprising turn out of results.
