According to the German, Alves’ selection was ‘logical‘ despite the right back being injured since May, forcing him to sit out the World Cup.
His selection in the World XI has raised eyebrows from several football lovers around the World but his coach Thomas Tuchel is not surprised at all.
He believes that Alves “is the type of player who can expect to be in a FIFA team.”
Here’s what he said:
“Surprised? No, it’s logical to me,”
“He played a top season.
“Unfortunately, he was injured before the World Cup. If he hadn’t been, he would have played for Brazil.
“He is the type of player who can expect to be in a FIFA team.”
Other players who were included in the FIFA World XI are:
Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Marcelo Viera, Cristiano Ronaldo, Eden Hazard, Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, N’golo Kante, David de Gea
Mohammed Salah was snubbed despite being shortlisted as top three for The Best FIFA Men’s Player.
