The producers of “F9: The Fast Saga” released a new video tagged TOTAL CAR-NAGE showing behind the scenes making of car stunts and explosive works, see how many cars were destroyed in Fast and Furious.
If this is what it looks like pre-production, then expect spectacular cinematic pleasure when you see it in the finished film. Having made more than $5 billion worldwide over nearly 20 years, the Fast & Furious makers can afford to destroy vehicles; and they did not hold back this time around.
Right from the start, the film franchise has won the heart of fans for its realistic car destruction scenes. As one can see from the new clip, we expect the number of totalled cars to increase.
Here is a list of how many cars were destroyed in Fast and Furious all these years:
- The Fast and the Furious (2001) – 78 cars
- 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003) – 130 cars
- The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) – 249
- Fast & furious (2009) – 190 cars
- Fast Five (2011) – 260 cars
- Fast & Furious 6 (2013) – 350 cars

This makes it a total of 1,835 cars and one submarine that have been destroyed in making the Fast and Furious franchise one of the best action film series ever. There is no verified information yet on how many cars were destroyed in the spinoff “Hobbs & Shaw” but most of its $200 million budget likely went to the lost cars.
With F9 promising a higher level of destruction, we are looking a more than 2,000 destroyed cars in the Fast and Furious universe.
It is important to note that most of the cars destroyed were actually clones of real ones and cars rotting away in junkyards. However, Screen Rant mentions that a W Motors Lykan Hypersport, valued at $3.5 million, was destroyed in Furious 7.
With “F9: The Fast Saga” coming on 19 May (internationally) and 25 June (for US audience), we hope to have a complete list of the number of cars that the first ten Fast and Furious films have destroyed.
