The singer, who had a phenomenal year that ended with being honoured as the Entertainer of the year by TIME magazine, announced her break from the social media website.
Her fans don’t have to worry though as she disclosed that she will be back whenever she feels like it.
This is coming only a few weeks after an American doctor, Dr Boyce Watckins claimed in a viral tweet that Lizzo is only popular because America has an obesity problem.
He wrote: “#Lizzo popular is because there is an obesity epidemic in America. Rather than encouraging people to do better, we are simply lying to them and telling them that they are just fine the way they are.
Unfortunately, Many of these people are dying from diabetes and heart disease”
She clapped back at him, writing: “I’m popular because I write good songs and I’m talented and perform high energy hour and a half shows filled with love.
“The only person who needs to do better is you.
“Keep my name out ya mouth & look in the mirror before you come for me.
“Here’s the attention you ordered”

Perhaps triggered by this tweet and many others like it, Lizzo has announced that she’s quitting Twitter.
She took to the app in the early hours of today, Monday, 6 January, to write:
“Yeah I can’t do this Twitter sh*t no more.. too many trolls… *peace sign*
“I’ll be back when I feel like it.”
