Nigerian comedian Ali Baba took to his Instagram page to thank the organisers of the Silverbird Award that was bestowed on him and to state that he was honoured.
The comedian was honoured with a Life Achievement Award by the 2019 Silverbird’s Man of the Year Awards organisers.

“Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, professionally known as Ali Baba, is a Nigerian stand-up comedian and actor. In 1993, he registered his company Ali Baba Hicuppuray 3rd to enhance the perception of comedians as a profession and a respected way of life.”

Meanwhile, Silverbird has shortlisted five nominees for its 2019 Man of the Year Award. The nominees for the Silverbird Man of the Year Award are:
- Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki for job creation
- Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State for infrastructure development and education
- Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for bringing innovation to governance
- Tony Elumelu, renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist extraordinaire,
- Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, for his efforts in ensuring industrial harmony in the country.
According to the management of Silverbird Group, the prestigious Silverbird Man of the Year award was instituted 14 years ago to recognise individuals who have impacted positively on the lives of Nigerians through their chosen careers.
