Victor Osimhen will miss Napoli’s weekend clash with AC Milan in Serie A after injuring his shoulder on international duty with Nigeria.
Having scored in their African Cup of Nations qualification game against Sierra Leone, the 21-year-old couldn’t travel with the squad for the return leg in Freetown and was sent back to his club for further assessment of a dislocated shoulder.
A test has since been conducted in Rome and it has now been confirmed that he will be out of action for a couple of weeks.
However, Napoli will be relieved by Villa Stuart hospital’s test results indicating that their summer signing will not require surgery.
Osimhen has scored two Serie A goals since joining Napoli from French side Lille Metropole in a deal worth around $96m (81.3m euros) in the summer.
Napoli who currently sit 3rd in Serie A will take on in-form league leaders AC Milan on Sunday without the services of their prolific number 9.
