Ryan Reynolds has revealed that his kids gave him the strength he needed to open up about his mental health challenges. The Deadpool superstar stated this on his Instagram page at the end of May.
The month of May which is officially the Mental Health Awareness Month saw a lot of people share their mental health struggles, and Ryan was one of them. In his post, he opened up on his lifelong struggle with mental health which he hardly ever talks about.
The superstar actor who was once labeled the sexiest man alive revealed that his mental health struggles is the reason he overschedules himself, just so he’s always busy and has can escape from his thoughts.
According to People, Ryan had more to say on the subject in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. He shared on the show that his three daughters alongside his wife, Blake Lively, inspired him to use his position as a public figure to speak out on the subject.
In his words, he said: “Part of it is that I have three daughters at home and part of my job as a parent is to model behaviors and model what it’s like to be sad and model what it’s like to be anxious, or angry. That there’s space for all these things.”

“The home that I grew in, that wasn’t modeled for me really. And that’s not to say that my parents were neglectful, but they come from a different generation,” he continued.
Ryan Reynolds also added: “I know that when I felt at the absolute bottom, it’s usually been because I felt like I was alone in something I was feeling. So I think when people talk about it, I don’t necessarily dwell on it or lament on it, but I think it’s important to talk about it. And when you talk about it, it kind of sets other people free.”
He expressed hope that his opening up will help other people who have similar struggles. All thanks to his three daughters, James, 6, Inez, 4, and Betty, 1 who inspired him.
Uhmmm.
Talk about it.
