President Muhammadu Buhari, today met with the national female basketball team, D’Tigress following their return from Bamako Mali Monday night.
D’tigress were the victorious team to win the 2017 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Tournament in Mali and consequently qualifying Nigeria for the 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Spain. The president had on Tuesday issued a congratulatory message to the team via the chief spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina.

D’Tigress started the competition by beating Mozambique 80-69 in their first game, whipped Democratic Republic of Congo 84-47 in the second and defeated Egypt 106-72 to emerge the first team to book a place in the quarterfinal of the competition.
Nigeria also defeated Senegal 58-54 in the last group match, blew out Cote d’Ivoire 98-43 in the quarterfinals and pipped Mali 48-47 in the semis before beating Senegal 65-48 in the final.

President Muhammadu Buhari has given N1 million each to members of D’Tigress female basketball team.
A report by the Cable states the Buhari made an award of one million to each of the players, with their handlers getting five hundred thousand naira apiece. The news outlet reported that the announcement was made at the commencement of the weekly federal executive council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday – the first the President would attend since his return from the UK where he was receiving medical treatment.
