Premier League Roundup: Manchester thrash West Bromwich Albion 5-0 at the Hawthorns

Manchester City produced a breathtaking display to reach the summit of the Premier League for the first time this season after an exciting performance against Sam Allardyce’s West Brom.

City took an early lead through Ilkay Gundogan who fired home from 20 yards after a wonderful pass from Joao Cancelo.

The full-back, Cancelo, then went from supplier to finisher as he doubled City’s lead via a brilliant curling effort from the edge of the area.

A goal that was initially ruled out for offside in the build-up but overturned by the VAR after referee Chris Kavanagh had allowed play to continue despite the assistant referee raising the offside flag.

Gundogan who has been in a very exciting form for the Cityzens this term was used as a false nine in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne on the night and he grabbed his seventh goal of the season with another tidy finish at the half-hour mark.

Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling rounded off the scoring for Pep Guardiola’s side as City continued their winning streak in all competitions, which is now at 11 games.
