Premier League Roundup: Manchester City move one step closer to the title with win over Burnley

Manchester City moved to grab their 13th consecutive win and go 20 unbeaten games as they put two past Burnley at Turf Moor to go three points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand.

Gabriel Jesus put the Cityzens ahead with an early lead after heading home a weak clearance by Nick Pope from a Bernardo Silva’s shot, and the title favourites were two up before the break as Raheem Sterling converted Ilkay Gundogan’s low cross across the goal at close range.

Burnley managed just two shots and Ederson rarely had to make a save in a comfortable City win, their ninth on the bounce in the Premier League ahead of their Sunday showdown at Liverpool.

The result also means City becomes the first Premier League side since Arsenal between March and August 2002 to win 13 consecutive matches in all competitions.
