Premier League Roundup: Bruno Fernandes scores for United in draw against West Brom; City continues to dominate the top spot

Bruno Fernandes has proven time and time again since he joined Manchester United how effective and important his contribution to the overall performance of the team is as he scored a sensational volley in a 1-1- draw against West Brom to preserve the Reds unbeaten away record.

Once again though, Man Utd had to salvage something after going behind when Mbaye Diagne nodded West Brom ahead after 83 seconds. However, having taken an impressive 21 points from losing positions coming into the game, there was hope for the visitors.

United had a very sluggish first-half performance, but it was another moment of magic from Fernandes on the stroke of half time that hauled Man Utd level as he fired home a powerful volley.

The visitors were much improved after the break and had a penalty overturned by VAR after they judged Semi Ajayi had not made enough contact to foul Harry Maguire.

West Brom could also have snatched a late winner, but Diagne missed two glorious chances.

With the result, Man Utd’s unbeaten away run in the Premier League now extends to 19 games sealing the second spot on the standings on goal difference

Gundogan’s brace sends City seven points clear

Premier League Roundup

Manchester City‘s midfielder Ilkay Gundogan continues his hot streak on Saturday against Tottenham Hotspur, grabbing two more goals as Manchester City came out 3-0 victor to extend their lead to seven points.

City completely dominated the first half but had only Rodrigo’s 23rd-minute penalty, awarded for a foul on Gundogan by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, to show for it.

Harry Kane also struck a spectacular free-kick at the woodwork on 14 minutes as he came close to dragging Spurs back in the tie.

Gundogan doubled City’s lead five minutes after the break, firing a left-footed shot beyond Hugo Lloris after being played in by Raheem Sterling.

The German grabbed his second goal of the match, and ninth of the year, after collecting a superb long ball from his goalie Ederson on 66 minutes and the cooly finishing.

An 11th straight league win gives City 53 points and they can go 10 clear of Leicester City if they win their match in hand at Everton on Wednesday.

Spurs lie ninth on 36 points.
