The award ceremony is being organised by Nollywood Ambassadors International Initiative, its president Mr Sunny-Ken Awoji revealed on Friday in Abuja during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.

Groups to be recognised include individuals, government functionaries and organisations that have helped in various ways toward shaping the Nigerian movie industry. Speaking about the proposed event, Awoji told newsmen,

In total, a total of twenty categories of awards has been identified by the organisers such as “Humanitarian man/woman of the year”, “Most supportive organisation of the year (Private)”, “Most supportive foreign organisation of the year” and “Most supportive government organisation.” “Nollywood Guild President of the year”, “Creative writer of the year, “Creative director of the year” are also some of the categories to be honoured.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) and other guilds within Nollywood, Federal Ministry of Information and other relevant government agencies such as the National Council for Arts and Culture and the Nigeria Film and Video Censors in support of the initiative are said be supportive of the initiative.
The event is slated for September 29, at the Sheraton Hotels.
