Nnedi Okorafor‘s critically acclaimed series, Binti is set for the big screen and set to premiere on Hulu.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the TV series is being adapted by Media Res studio, while the script will be written by Nnedi Okorafor and writer, Stacy Osei-Kuffour.
Binti is set in a technologically and socially advanced future. It tells the story of a brilliant and rebellious young woman who is destined to lead her community in Africa.
But when she’s admitted to the most prestigious academy in the galaxy, she chooses a different path and, rejecting her family’s wishes, leaves her community behind in favour of the starry skies.
Binti is the recipient of both the Hugo and Nebula awards, which are awarded to exemplary books in Science Fiction and Fantasy.
Okorafor took to her Twitter page to share excitement about the upcoming movie series.
She wrote: “Finally, I can be public about it!”
