Samuel Chukwueze proved vital to Villareal as he provided an assist to see his team beat Levante in an important win.
Nigeria’s Samuel Chukwueze was on hand to decide the Villareal – Levante clash on Saturday 2 January 2020. The yellow submarines had been coming up short in recent games and needed the win against Levante.
Coming off the back of a draw and a recent loss, Villareal entered the game on a strong foot. They dominated Levante for most periods of the game. Eventually, they reaped their reward with a Fer Nino tap in from Alfonso Pedraza’s pass.
Unai Emery threw Chukwueze in as the game restarted in the second period. In the 54th minute, eight minutes after he entered the game, the Nigerian rewarded his manager’s trust.

He set up Gerard Moreno with a delightful pass to send Villareal into a two-goal lead. After grabbing an assist, Samuel Chukwueze continued to terrorise the opposition. He came close to getting on the score sheet but Levante’s goalie denied him.
Sergio Leon and Nemanja Radoja came together to half the deficit for Levante but they could find no way back into the game.
The Nigerian winger played very well throughout the game and completed 80% of the passes he attempted. He also fired three shots and completed the same amount of dribbles.
His assist against Levante is his fourth for Villareal across all competitions this season. Chukwueze has scored two goals all season and will be hoping that Emery gives him more playing opportunities.
Chukwueze is a star boy.
