Details from the new trailer address many questions about the film and the future of the franchise. Here are some of the information we gleaned from the 3min 20secs clip.
Fast and Furious is going to space!
This is likely the most notable thing that sets F9 apart from its earlier released versions. The suggestions that the film should consider space adventures began as a joke among fans commenting on the impossible car stunts it usually featured.

However, it is becoming a reality as we get a peek of Tyrese Gibson and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges wearing homemade spacesuits in an improvised space vehicle.
In an interview Director Justin Lin said that to put the space angle into the film, he had to sit down with scientists who explained the physics behind space and other flight concepts. This means that, while it is strictly for entertainment, F9 will try to stick to scientific principles as closely as possible.
Additionally, F9 marks Lin’s return to the director’s chair after he last directed a Fast & Furious film in 2013 (the franchise’ sixth release).
Action, action, action
As many have come to expect the Fast & Furious films to deliver on action scenes, F9’s trailer does not disappoint. Any lover of action-packed, high-speed chase and combat films will be desperate to see the coming film.
Lin further revealed that many interesting scenes did not make the “F9: The Fast Saga” trailer cut. These scenes would have given a lot of details away, and the makers are trying to prevent that and only whet the appetite.
The stars are aligned …
This has both figurative and literal meanings for “F9: The Fast Saga”. The film features celebrities who are not part of the original Fast & Furious assemble. Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron are already popularly associated with the franchise but more stars are welcomed into the fold.
WWE superstar and actor John Cena gets to play the major role of an antagonist, according to the trailers. Acknowledging what it meant for him to be starring in the film, he tweeted:
Excitement from start to finish. Joining the amazing crew for the @TheFastSaga #F9 was an unbelievable experience. Seeing this trailer hyped me up all over again!!! June 25th! https://t.co/6wRIkuFN1x

Cardi B will also play the role of Leysa, a woman who shares a history with Dom. Another American rapper Bow Wow will also star in the film, although this is not his first outing with the Fast & Furious crew. Japanese–New Zealand actress Anna Sawai, “Peaky Blinders” Finn Cole, Puerto Rican singer Ozuna, and French-Cameroonian mixed martial artist Francis Ngannou are also part of the film’s cast.

The symbolic meaning of the term “The stars are aligned” came from Director Lin’s statement. “I think that just by the fan reactions, we now have all of these really great, compelling characters that people love,” he told Deadline. Therefore, “F9: The Fast Saga” has provided a strong basis for the next two Fast & Furious films, effectively determining the future of the franchise. The 10th and 11th instalment are believed to be the last from the franchise as the focus will shift to visiting other characters or situations.
The film is to be released on 25 June 2021 in the United States after its world premiere in South Korea on 19 May 2021. It was scheduled for release in April 2019 but the releases of “Hobbs & Shaw” (2019) and the new James Bond film “No Time to Die” (2021) as well as the COVID-19 pandemic has hampered original plans.
