Download Pioneers – Debut album by DRB Lasgidi [MP3 + Video]

Often known as the trendsetters for the Alte movement — a youth culture that is producing refreshing contributions to the world of fashion, art, and music — DRB Lasgidi released their debut album titled “Pioneers”, a 12-track project that finally halted the long wait.

The album, “Pioneers”, features a host of notable features from Nigeria’s youth culture-led alté scene, including Lady Donli, Tems, Odunsi (The Engine), Prettyboy DO, Santi, and more, while Nigeria’s heavyweight indigenous rapper Olamide appeared on one of the tracks.

DRB Lasgidi is a group of Nigerian artists that consists of three members Boj, Fresh L, and Teezee, and their album title, “Pioneers”, was chosen so as to reflect on their roles as “key figureheads within Lagos’s rapidly expanding Alté scene.”

The group also worked with young producers like Pheelz and GMK and enlisted the new wave Nigerian artist Edozie Anedu for the album’s standout artwork.

A 4-minute documentary was also released to commemorate the release of the album which highlights their decade-long influence on the scene. The documentary features appearances from artists they’ve worked with both in front of and behind the scenes, including Davido and Skepta, who speak to the group’s unique presence in Nigeria’s contemporary music scene.

“Pioneers” might actually be the only album we get to have from the group, or not, but regardless, it surely was worth the long wait.
