Jidenna is a Nigerian-American singer who got famous for his ‘Classic Man’ song back in 2015. The song was so huge it carved an identity for the singer who would later have Kendrick Lamar do the remix to his famous hit.
From there on, it was back-to-back success for the rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer.
He further released his sophomore album, an 11-track project titled “85 To Africa” on 23 August 2019, and on it, he featured a host of African acts including Seun Kuti and Mr. Eazi his countrymen.
“85 To Africa” was Jidenna’s dream come to reality. While speaking to Apple Music radio host Ebro Darden, Jidenna says, “One of my goals was to make it cool to be African in America and to make it cool to be American, internationally”
“Because I think it’s important for all black and brown people so you could feel like you’re part of the black global culture.”
He unifies and incorporates African sound in his music although he is shy to take full credit for putting Africa on the pedestal musically, he is happy even his contemporaries are now doing the same.
