It took a few long waits and frustration as fans anticipated the release of Adekunle Gold‘s sophomore album, About 30.
The moment finally arrived on 25 May 2019 when Adekunle Gold announced the release of About 30. Surely, it was what we all hoped for and was a brilliant follow-up, which didn’t suffer from the dreaded sophomore slump.
Just as AG promised, the 14-track LP plus 2 bonus tracks, skillfully tackles issues the majority of people face as they get older. Issues like escaping a toxic relationship, handling crippling loneliness e.t.c. The album delivered the type of dreamy love songs that won us all over to Adekunle Gold’s side, to begin with.
Adekunle Gold claimed he recorded the songs on the album anywhere and everywhere he found himself. He says: “I recorded some here, I went to Ghana to record, I recorded in America, I recorded in Lagos, everywhere. And I wrote most songs on the plane.”
This just affirms that inspiration can come from anywhere.
