‘The Matrix Resurrections’ will be the title of Matrix 4 according to recent online leaks and its release date has been pushed from May to December 2021.
This recent leak came from an alleged screenshot of a now-deleted post made by Shunika Terry. Terry is one of the key hairstylists for The Matrix 4 crew.
She had been showing off a wrapped gift she received from the Matrix 4 directors when she made the slip-up. The ‘thank you’ card bore the inscription “… during these extraordinary times in the making of Matrix Resurrections.”

It is hard to verify if the screenshot is real as it is no longer on @shunikat’s Instagram page. However, the title makes sense seeing that Keanu Reeves (Neo) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity) are part of the Matrix 4 cast.
The two key characters had met what appears to be not-too-pleasing ends in Matrix 3 (The Matrix Revolutions). However, it seems they will be back in the coming instalment. Hence, resurrection would be an apt title.

This is also in line with the Oracle’s statement to Sati at the end of Matrix 3 when she said that she believed they will see Neo again.
Lana Wachowski returns as the director of Matrix 4 after co-directing and co-writing the three previous Matrix films with her sister Lilly Wachowski.
Since the naming structure for the Matrix films follows the R format (Reloaded and Revolutions), Resurrection seems to be a possibly good title.
The Matrix 4 is one of the films that Warner announced will be available for streaming on HBO Max the same day its released in cinemas. Its release date was scheduled for 22 December 2021.
There are reports that the date may be moved up as we already saw for Godzilla vs. Kong.
HBO Max has an amazing line up of films for 2021 with Judas and the Black Messiah coming on 12 February and Zack Snyder’s Justice League streaming on 18 March.
