Juventus and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo has tested positive for coronavirus a second time and could miss featuring against Barcelona in the Champions League next week.
Several reports from Italy, however, suggest that Ronaldo, who tested positive while on international duty with Portugal on October 13, remains well and is symptom-free.
Medical documents have been sent to UEFA by Juventus as per regulations, informing them of his condition since it has to be done a week before the game.
Cristiano would be required to take another test 24 hours before the Barcelona game and if a negative result is a verdict, it would mean he could be available to face Lionel Messi’s side.
The goal-scoring machine returned to Italy to quarantine after he was forced to miss Portugal’s 3-0 win over Sweden.
Italy’s sports minister said the forward may have broken health rules by doing so – something disputed by Juventus.
The Serie A club’s president Andrea Agnelli said no rules had been broken.
“You must call the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Interior and have them explain what has been violated,” Agnelli says.
Juventus stated that Ronaldo had returned on a medical flight “authorized by the competent health authorities.“.
