Cristiano Ronaldo moved a step closer to Iranian Ali Daei’s international goals record with his 102nd goal for Portugal in a 7-0 thrashing of Andorra.
After his introduction at half-time, the 35-year-old produced an assist for teammate Renato Sanches in the 56th minute, before firing in Portugal’s sixth from a powerful header five minutes from time.
The Juventus forward was left on the bench as a precaution after picking up a knock playing in Serie A against Lazio last weekend.
In his place was debutant and Wolverhampton Wanderers forward, Pedro Neto, who opened the scoring in the eighth minute before he was replaced at half-time by Ronaldo.
Elsewhere, Michy Batshuayi bagged a brace for Belgium as they defeated Switzerland 2-1.
Leicester City’s Cengiz Under was also on the score sheet as Turkey and Croatia drew 3-3.
With 127 places separating Portugal (7) and Andorra (134) in the latest FIFA rankings, the logic of a friendly before a double-header of Nations League fixture schedule might be questionable.
