Home Alone reboot: Macaulay Culkin who played Kevin wants Disney to contact him

The cast list for the upcoming remake of Home Alone might just have got a whole lot more interesting.

Macaulay Culkin became a child star off the back of the 1990 original where he plays the character of Kevin McCallister who was left at home when his family left on Christmas holidays to France in the first film and to Florida in the sequel.

Culkin, 38, says he wants to talk to Disney about it. While it’s highly probable he’s just joking, of course, but it might mollify fans who were outraged when Disney announced it would re-imagine the Christmas classic for its new streaming service.

The actor took to Twitter to post an unflattering photo of himself of what he thought Kevin would look like in 2019. In the photo, Culkin was sitting on the sofa eating takeaway (a reference to the original). He captions it: “This is what an updated Home Alone would actually look like.”

The first Home Alone was released in 199o and earned over $476.7 million worldwide on a budget of $18 million. It and was the highest-grossing live-action comedy ever until The Hangover Part II’s release in 2011.

The sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York was released in 1990 and grossed $359 million against a budget of $20 million.
