According to Deadline, Henry will no longer be playing Superman in the Warner Bros./Time Warner Inc.’s DC Films franchise. A statement released by DC Universe to this effect reads:
“While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.”
Cavill first played the role of Superman in 2011, and to date, he has appeared in three DC movies: Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League.
Why did DC cut the plug on Henry?
According to Forbes, Henry was reportedly demanding a high amount of money to play the role and also, negotiations for Cavill to appear in a cameo in the upcoming connected feature Shazam! broke down due to scheduling conflicts.
With the next Supergirl solo movie in view, the world might not need a Superman at this junction. The origin film for the teenage Supergirl prevents Cavill’s participation since the movie will depict Superman as an infant.
