Hackers are reportedly in possession of Disney’s upcoming movie “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the Deadline reports. According to publication, the hackers have threatened to release to the public “Bits of the film — in increments — if their demands weren’t met.” The hacker incident has been confirmed by Disney CEO Bob Iger.
Meanwhile, Disney is said to be calling the hacker’s bluff and has enlisted the aid of the FBI to track the hackers, a task some think is near impossible.
Dead Men Tell No Tales is the fifth instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. It was scheduled for release on 26 May in the US. The franchise has been highly successful grossing over $3.72 billion in box office worldwide. It was first released in 2003.
