There is nothing inherently wrong with wanting to find out how one’s daughter might react when faced with an unsolicited attention, maybe even potentially dangerous situation. Parents worry about there children all the time. What with the horror stories everywhere, of unsuspecting young ladies falling victims of unscrupulous animals in the guise of a lover.
Then there is the issue of societal expectations from women, namely that they remain chaste until marriage, never mind that the men can go ahead and sow their wild oats, without anyone batting an eyelid. Hypocritical. No wonder parents are anxious to bring up decent well-behaved daughters.
But how far should a parent go to prove their daughter is not messing around and is not easily misled by men? Where does being caring ends and being a nuisance begins? The present writer believes opinion will vary depending on who you asked.
One unnamed Nigeria father wanted to find out and decided to slid into her daughter’s WhatsApp messaging app, pretending to be an admirer and professing to love the girl – he actually does: parental love.
The story screenshots of that conversation was shared by a Twitter user, La Reina (@__emzb).
So, this guy pretended to be a would-be lover to his own daughter. We think he did that to find out how she might react if so approached by a stranger. Not bad if that was the intention, could prove a valuable learning curve for all involved.
The girl naturally threatened to block the number if the stranger doesn’t reveal his identity. He seemed to have gotten the threat and withdrew. But apparently wasn’t yet totally satisfied with his experiment. A few hours later, he was back on his game, this time promising to buy a bag for the girl, an offer the girl refused. Then came the shocker:
Girl: “Please tell me your name.”
Man: “Your first guy. Who is the guy that loves you the most that you know.”
Girl: “My father, obviously”
Guy sends a picture of himself, adding “Love you so much. That’s my golden girl”
