Arsenal have opened talks about the possibility of playing the first leg of their Europa League last-32 game against Benfica next month at a neutral venue.
The English side is due to lock horns with Benfica on February 18 for the first leg of their Round of 32 tie in Lisbon, however, due to government concerns about new coronavirus variants, they may not be allowed to fly to Portugal.
Arsenal wants to play the game at a neutral venue but Benfica wants to play at their home ground.
The second leg would be played at the Emirates Stadium on February 25.
Arsenal managed a 100% record from their group in the Europa League this season, scoring 20 goals in the process – the most ever by an English team in a UEFA Europa League group.
Benfica also managed to stay undefeated in Group D, managing three wins and three draws in the process but had to settle for second place behind Rangers.
The two sides have appeared in five UEFA Cup and Europa League finals between them but never lifted the trophy.
