Many have been wondering what became of the Arsenal Midfielder since October 2016 when he last featured in a match. Injuries had always plagued the midfielder and despite that, his impact has been felt in matches he played for both club and country. But it has not been a normal kind of injury that he has been facing this time around.
Carzola in an interview with Marca revealed that in the course of his recent recovery, the doctors told him that he should be happy to be able just to walk again.
He said that his right Achilles became infected and despite numerous antibiotics it didn’t heal. He had to undergo another surgery that involved reconstructing his Achilles by grafting skin from his left arm to fill the eight-centimeter hole that the infection had dug into his foot.
There is hope that the player who had once lived in fear of losing the foot completely will return to playing in the new year. He thanked Iniesta, Silva and Villa who kept sending him messages almost everyday to check on his progress and wish him well.
We are glad he is back.
