Drake shocked fans with a surprise album drop, Honestly, Nevermind.
The Grammy Award-winning rapper took to his Instagram account on Thursday evening to announce that his seventh studio album would drop at midnight. He shared a chrome-inspired album art with the caption “7th studio album Honestly, Nevermind out at midnight.”

Honestly, Nevermind follows Drake’s sixth studio album Certified Lover Boy, which he released in September 2021 after a month-long delay. Certified Lover Boy quickly became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day, beating the record previously held by his 2018 album Scorpion.

With Certified Lover Boy, Drake earned a best rap album nomination at the 64th Grammy Awards before withdrawing himself from the awards show, having called out the Recording Academy for snubbing his pal The Weekend the year before.
“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be suprised every year by the detachment between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artists that exist now and the ones that come after,” Drake wrote at the time.

The news of Drake’s seventh studio album drop comes in light of Beyonce announcing July 29 as the release date for Renaissance, her seventh studio album and a first solo album in six years. The 14-track album includes one feature from 21 Savage.
