It is an exciting midweek for all football fans as the UEFA Champions league enters its second round tonight, here is a brief preview of the key matches to be played tonight:
Spartak Moscow – Liverpool.
it has been sometime since we read anything of significance about Spartak Moscow (unless of course you live in Russia) but with the race for the group wide open they will be aiming at winning at home against the Reds who will field the likes of Mane and speedster Salah and the able Coutinho. Though Sevilla has it easier as the host Maribor in the other fixture in Group E with every team level on 1 point each.
Manchester City – Shakhtar Donetsk.
City is in the form of their lives and it is the worst time for Donetsk to be visiting the Etihad but duty calls. Guardiola earlier remarked that they would storm their visitors with goals as the look for a win and keep their top spot as Napoli welcome Feyenoord to Italy in Group F.
Monaco – FC Porto.
Monaco look forward to increasing Porto’s troubles after the Portuguese side lost to Besiktas last time and they sit bottom of Group With no points. Falcao will also want to increase his goal’s tally for the season and Besiktas who lead the group host RB Leipzig who lost their last league match and would try to win their first Champions league match.
Borussia Dortmund – Real Madrid.
Both teams have history in the recent Champions league era and the match promises to be exciting as Dortmund who has only lost once in all competitions this season look to shake off their defeat at Wembley and Real Madrid will be interested in killing off the doubts in their supporters. Tottenham will be visiting APOEL Nicosia and will likely extend their run in the Champions league in Group H.
