The legendary hip-hop disc jockey told Saturday Beats in an interview that he was not planning to end the career he had begun since the age of sixteen.
DJ Jimmy Jatt is a household name in the Nigerian music industry and as far back as 2006 he was giving the award of hip-hop hall of fame in the first Headies Award ceremony for his large part in the hip-hop market of Nigeria. Popularly known for his entertainment show Jimmy’s Jump of he had refuted claims of his retirement.
He said: “Age is not telling on me and it has to do with the grace of God. Anytime I plan to slow down, something big happens. I have never considered retiring because as an entertainer, you never stop. I mean, look at the likes of King Sunny Ade who is old enough to be my father, if he is still active on stage, then who am I to think about retirement?”
Then he gave some news about his family after he was asked how they fared in a social media world that was spiraling out of control, he answered;
“I don’t monitor my children on social media. I try to be the best dad that I can be, so I let them be. I don’t monitor them because I feel I have done my best as a parent. Besides, I know the kind of kids that I have. I did not say I do not follow them on social media but I do not tag them on my posts because I do not want everyone on my page to know about my family”.
He has been linked with many big names in the music industry including 2Face, Mode 9, 9ice, Ruggedman, eLDee, M.I. Also he has been hailed as a legend many times and deservedly so.
