Shock as Diego Maradona passes on aged 60

Diego Maradona, one of football’s most notable icon, has died of cardiac arrest at the age of 60 in his home in the Argentine city of Buenos Aires.

The world had held its breath at the beginning of November 2020 when Maradona was hospitalised. However, the football legend had only had subdural hematoma and a surgery corrected it, returning him to ‘good health’.

He was released and allowed to recover fully in his home. But just two weeks after his discharge from hospital, Diego Maradona was found unresponsive after suffering from a cardiac arrest.

Paramedics that arrived on the scene confirmed that the football legend had passed on. The world in general has been shocked at the news and sporting world most especially.

Diego Maradona had been the most beloved player to wear the Argentina national team jersey and he won his country the World Cup in 1986.

In respect of his death, Champions League matches scheduled for Wednesday, 25th November 2020, will hold a minute silence before kick-off. Here are some of the early tributes pouring in for Maradona:
