In a video aptly titled “David Oyelowo talk oh-so sweetly about his wife“, Nigerian-British actor talks about a night in 2008 when he and his wife, Jessica confess to each that they are all they have.
The actor shared the clip from the segment about his wife on his Instagram page. He also provided some context to what led to that conversation between them. He explained that the conversation had taken place during the financial crisis of 2008 when he and his wife, Jessica, had moved to LA in pursuit of their dreams. But the economy was tough and for 14 months, he didn’t work. He and his wife were down to their last $3 and they have three kids to feed as well. According to the actor, despite being money poor, he felt so rich because of God’s and his wife love.
Here’s the caption:
“I’m talking here about one of the toughest times in my life and career. My wife and I had moved to LA to pursue our dreams. It was 2008, the economy had tanked, Hollywood was in the middle of a writers’ strike, I didn’t work for 14 months and Jess and I (with 3 kids at the time) were down to literally $3. Miraculously our love for each other grew deeper because despite being so poor, God’s love and my wife’s love made me feel so rich!!”
