Chiwetalu Agu is making a big bang entry into Nigeria’s highest grossing movie in 2016. The veteran is the latest high-profile actor to join the much-anticipated sequel to ‘The Wedding Party’. His appearance on the set follows that of Nollywood popular actress, Patience Ozokwor, in what is beginning to look like an ensemble cast.
We are not sure what role Chiwetalu Agu is cast to play in the movie, but rumour has it that it could be for more comedic effect as the actor is renowned for his use of comedic quips. He joins cast from the prequel – Sola Sobowale, Daniella Down, RMD, Ireti Doyle, Ali Baba, Ikechukwu the Rapper, Enyinna Nwigwe, Saka; and newcomers – Omoni Oboli, Seyi Law and Chugurl.
Shooting for the sequel has since commenced on May 1, 2017. It is being directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, who also worked on “Out of Luck,” “The Arbitration,” “Room 315,” and “Falling.”
“The Wedding Party” sequel follows the romance between Nonso (Enyinna Nwigwe) and Deirdre (Daniella Down), the bridesmaid from London. The movie is premised on accidental marriage proposal of the bridesmaid by Nonso while on a dinner date with Deirdre.
