The prize is handed out by the ILFU International Literature Festival Utrecht which awarded Chimamanda the prize in appreciation for the unique way in which she thinks about the world and its ingrained thinking patterns.
She also delivered the Belle van Zuylen lecture. She shared a few photos and a video on her Instagram, rocking a Nigerian designer to the event as usual.
The author has been very well celebrated in her field, following the release of her three important books: Purple Hibiscus, Half of a Yellow Sun, and Americanah.
She has also released a collection of short stories and speeches which have impacted positively on people’s minds all over the world.
Apart from that, Chimamanda is also considered a feminist icon, especially as her widely watched speech, We Should All Be Feminists, rocked the world and inspired a song by Beyonce.
