Veteran musician Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has taken a swipe at those who say he is too old to perform on stage.
The 68-year-old outspoken activist made his feelings known in an Instagram post alongside a picture of himself on stage. Whiling calling his critics “Mumu“, Charly boy has a piece of advice for listeners: “You are never too old to become younger!”
His words: “When some people read sey I go climb stage again on the 1st of May 2019, some just dey yab me, sey, ‘weytin dis expired product wan do again.’
“How could I have told the Mumu people that You are never too old to become younger!
Because as long as I am breathing, in my eyes, I am just beginning. I can still dazzle at my old young age.?????? In short, after me, na still me.”

The post comes after the ‘Area Father’ staged a come back at the Nite of a Thousand Laughs, which was filled with humour and glamour as both upcoming and established artists took turns to entertain the crowd. He performed his new songs Na we be Government, Our Mumudondo, among others.
Speaking with journalists on his rennaisance CharlyBoy says he decided to use music as a tool to inspire ordinary Nigerians, especially youths, to realise that power truly belongs to them. He explains:
“Music has been my age-long passion, and this time I am using it to awake the consciousness of all Nigerians, no matter where they are, towards building the country they desire.
“A lot of Nigerians do not believe they have a say in the affairs of their country, and this makes them to be docile.
“The Social Contract Initiative is designed as a contract between the citizen and the elected officials to collectively build a nation of our dreams.
“It is a contract between the people and the government at all levels, that citizens, will vote, pay taxes and be patriotic.
“However, citizens also require that government provide basic amenities, protect human rights and guarantee the security of lives and property.
