Real Madrid 1-1 Tottenham.
The match looked nothing like the David and Goliath story that many were looking forward to because tonight we saw no David or Goliath but two evenly matched teams giving everything they could to grab both points and Madrid will not feel too bad to have dropped two points at home as they were even in danger of losing all the points. Ronaldo and Isco came agonizingly close to grabbing the winner but so did Harry Kane and Eriksen. But in the end the own goal from Varane and Ronaldo’s penalty goal meant that the both teams stay joint top, equal on goals as well as points.
Manchester City 2-1 Napoli.
Manchester City continue their march on as they keep slaying opposition here and there. Napoli also in fine form after maintaining their lead in the domestic league with a win over Roma were very unlucky not to turn around the game after they scored one of the two penalties they were awarded to half their loss after Sterling and Gabriel Jesus had put the hosts ahead in the first period and then were pushed around by the Italians all through the second period.
Maribor 0-7 Liverpool.
The Reds were relentless all through the match as they gave their hosts more than a run for their money with the terrific displays of Salah, Milner and Coutinho. They were up by four goals before the first period was done with Salah’s brace and Firminho completed his brace with the resumption of the second half and Trent Alexander-Arnold wrapped up the affairs after Oxlade-Chamberlain scored his first goal in the Champions league for Liverpool.
Monaco 1-2 Besiktas.
Cenk Tosun’s double was enough for the visitors to turn the game around on its head after the French club seemingly fell asleep after Radamel Falcao had put them in front.
Spartak Moscow 5-1 Sevilla.
The visitors will come away licking the sores as they were beaten blue and black in Russia despite drawing level after Quincy Promes opener. The hosts rained goals in the second period and Sevilla could not weather the storm.
RB Leipzig 3-2 Porto.
Leipzig finally gets a win in their Champions league campaign over Portuguese club, Porto. All the games came in the first half as the teams took their foot off the pedal with Leipzig content to enjoy their win.
APOEL Nicosia 1-1 Dortmund.
Dortmund seem unable to get themselves into shape in this season of the Champions league as they slipped up the chance they had of getting three points against group’s underdogs APOEL. Losing over the weekend Dortmund could only play out a draw in a feisty match that saw both teams share three yellow cards each.
Feyernoord 1-2 Shakhtar Donetsk.
The hosts went ahead early but had their hopes of grabbing all points dashed to pieces with Bernard’s double. The visitors were reduced to ten men after Royaslav Rakitskiy was given his marching orders after a second yellow card.
