Twitter has just done what many have been biting their tongues for, increased the space for you and you and you to give a full rant on what you really think about that dumb tweet or the really nice one. As reported earlier by Sidomex some months past Click here to read , it is now official that all users can use up to 280 characters in a tweet.
But as expected, the advancement was met with mixed reactions as many veteran Twitter users felt that it will make the social ‘snippy snappy’ remarks on Twitter fade and make it more boring as people who they claim (they claim) populated Facebook at the moment with stories that no one wants to hear will flood into Twitter.
The company had started testing what the character limit increment would bring about as it became obvious that unlike Chinese and Japanese, English could not pack as much information as they could into few characters since September.
Many still argue that 280 characters is still too short to express a full rant like a blogger wants and it is too long for a quick snap or retort.
Chief Executive Jack Dorsey however pointed out that during the survey before announcing the character increment, more people were likely to Tweet with the advancement than the former.
