Named after his album Astroworld, the Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner, announced this after Scott’s inaugural Astroworld Festival, which brought 40,000 fans to Houston.
The first Astroworld Festival took place on Sunday at Houston’s NRG Park. The day-long event featured performances by Travis Scott, Post Malone, Lil Wayne, Rae Sremmurd, and more.
Scott accepted the proclamation recognising him as an ambassador for the arts, education, and youth initiatives at Houston’s city hall.
In his acceptance speech, Scott gave a heartfelt speech on the importance of galvanizing one’s career at a young age and the future of the arts.
