Tony Hsieh, former CEO of Zappos, was reported dead on Friday 27th November 2020 at the age of 46 in a fire accident at his house in Connecticut.
Tony Hsieh is popular for his impact in making the online company Zappos one the biggest shoe sellers on the internet. Additionally, he is well-known for his book “Delivering Happiness.”
According to Forbes, the book influenced various business ventures in his hometown of Las Vegas. Hsieh also gave talks at many conferences that touched many lives.
Speaking about his death, Zappos CEO Kedar Deshpande said; “The world has lost a tremendous visionary and an incredible human being. We recognize that not only have we lost our inspiring former leader, but many of you have also lost a mentor and a friend.”

Tony Hsieh graduated from Havard University and got a job at Oracle. However, during his time there, he and his college roommate created LinkExchange; a business that helps companies buy advertisements on websites. Microsoft bought LinkExchange for $265 million in 1998.
He spent 20 years with Zappos as CEO and grew it to become one of the biggest. While he was the CEO of a shoe selling company, he didn’t own much shoes. In fact, many people who knew him personally talked about his simple and minimalist lifestyle.
Former Zappos Chief Operating Officer Alfred Lin said about Tony Hsieh death; “The world lost a pioneer of company culture, the shoe industry, Downtown LV, web advertising, and also a gentle soul who gave a part of himself to countless people. We’ll remember Tony for that and the happiness he brought to so many people.”
