Popular Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh has given her voice as she condemns attacks on Abuja #EndSARS protesters.
In Abuja, the protesters blocked roads and were singing solidarity songs when suddenly, attackers appeared and assaulted them.
The attackers were speaking Hausa language and they vandalised about five cars parked in the vicinity.
Reacting to the news via her Instagram page, Tonto Dikeh strongly kicks against it as she encouraged the youths not to resort to violence, which would effectively mean the cause is lost.
She writes: ” I totally condemn the attack on the #ENDSARS Protesters in Abuja and outside.
“The attackers or hoodlums want to force us into violence cos they know that if we maintain Peaceful Stance on our protests and if they get charged internationally they are done.
“That is why they are still shooting at protesters just to get us angry and prompt reprisal attacks, which will automatically make us LOSE THE WAR.
“And unfortunately, this is where this situation is moving towards if we don’t trade with caution following several tweets in the last couple of hours where cultists want to start killing police officers because of what happened at surelere and ojuelegba. If this happens, we have lost the battle.
“Because they will come with three solid points that will attract the International audience such as:
“1. That they accepted our demands and put an end to SARS (even though we know it’s audio)
‘2. They will say even Mr President addressed the situation and has put policies in place (that 5 points agenda) to actually combat this problem.
“3. Last but not the least, they may avoid responsibility by taking advantage of the violence protest and claim they are busy trying to put necessary measures in place in line with our demands.
“Permit me to inform you that, the international communities will listen to them.
“Why? Because they also know policies take time for implementation, which is the same as in other countries and they will see the protest as an unreasonably or politically motivated one.
“If we want to fight this battle and win, we need to be tactical in our approach as well.
“They know what they are doing and am glad we are so close to VICTORY, though the Police brutality will never end until there is a sincere reformation and total overhauling in the system.
“PLEASE don’t allow unnecessary emotion destroy what we are already winning and we must continue to fight as ONE body until they do the needful. #RP
“Our demands are simple: #ENDSARS #ENDPOLICEBRUTALITY
