The actress, who is best known for her ole as Khanya in the SABC 1 series, Khani, had gotten involved in an argument that her brother was having with two men at the family home in Evander, Mpumalanga on Thursday, 3 September.
The argument turned violent, however, when one of the men grabbed a gun and shot Mdeliswa. The two men escaped after the shooting but the owner of the gun has reportedly been identified as Hlathi.
The police are looking for the man who shot her and is requesting information from the public. They told South Africa’s EWN:
“We are currently investigating this matter and we have not arrested anyone. Yesterday, we brought the owner of the gun to book and we were advised to get the person who pulled the trigger.
“We are busy with our investigation. Anyone with information that can assist should approach the Evander Police Station or any police station around.”
The actress was rushed to a nearby hospital before being airlifted to Steve Biko Academic hospital where she died on Saturday, 5 September.
