Former Snooker champion Staurt Bingham who is 41 has been handed a playing ban of six months after it was discovered that he faulted on the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association rules of betting.
It was found out that Bingham had placed bets on himself and other players while the rules of the WPBSA had stated that players were not allowed to bet on the game of snooker at all whether it is a game they are involved in or not.
The player was said to have placed bets of up to 35,771 pounds in the past seven years although the body did not suggest that he tried to influence the game unfairly.
