This nickname was given affectionately by those who have noticed some similarities between the Duchess and her late mother-in-law Princess Diana.

An insider revealed that the nickname is used “affectionately” for the Duchess of Sussex as “they are rather alike”.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, a source revealed: “I’ve heard the duchess is referred to as Di 2, because of the similarities to Harry’s mother. It’s meant affectionately, and I think it’s quite true – they are rather alike.”

Veteran royal photographer Mark Stewart has also commented on how he has noticed similarities between Meghan and late Princess Diana during her and Prince Harry’s ongoing tour.

He said: “Meghan has the confidence in front of the camera that Diana had, and that same love of fashion and top-end designers.

“Diana loved Versace; Meghan loves Givenchy. Their style is quite similar: classic, elegant, and with lots of block colors.”
