Actress Sandra Bullocks joins the list of celebrities who have pledged support for victims of Hurricane Harvey. A report from PEOPLE reports that the actress donated $1m to the relief efforts of the Red Cross. Bullock is a long time supporter of the charity organisation and owns a home in Austin Texas.

Meanwhile, the star is encouraging others to help those devastated by flooding and destruction caused by Harvey along the state’s gulf coast. Although the country may be politically polarized, Bullock says the disaster wrought by Harvey — now downgraded to a tropical storm and expected to dump as much as 39 inches of rain on Houston and the surrounding region — should bring all Americans together.
“There are no politics in eight feet of water,” says the star. “There are human beings in eight feet of water.”
Although Hurricane Harvey has been downgraded from the category 4 storm it was when it made landfall to a tropical storm, it is still expected to pour at least another 39 inches during the week. So far, the storm has killed 19 people and caused over $3 billion in property damage.
