Famous people have broken the law at different points in their lives and have had to do their time for it in jail, just like Pooh Shiesty, who is currently facing a possible life sentence.
On Wednesday, 7 July 2021, Lontrell D. Wiliams — the 21-year-old Tennessee rapper who goes by the stage name Pooh Shiesty — was held without bond in a federal detention center pending trial on charges that he participated in the shooting of two men during a street purchase of marijuana and high-end sneakers.
According to police reports, the rapper and his co-defendants — Bobby Brown and Jayden Darosa — shot the two men in the buttocks and hip. They were captured on a video that later went viral when they left the scene in a McLaren.
Williams rented the bright green McLaren from one of his alleged victims, identified in court papers as “Victim 1.” And he allegedly “had the intent to negotiate an extension of his vehicle rental as part of their transaction.” The shooting victims survived with injuries.
An indictment charged Williams, Brown, and Darosa with one count of conspiring to possess firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence, conspiring to commit a Hobbs Act robbery, committing a Hobbs Act robbery, and discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, each.
If convicted, each count carries a maximum sentence of 20 years. His record label, which he joined in early 2021, Gucci Mane’s 1017 imprint label, is yet to make a statement on the rapper’s case.
Asides from Pooh Shiesty, who might be facing a possible life sentence, there are the celebrities whose criminal activities are on an entirely different level, which in turn has bagged them several years in prison.
The men and women on this list have been involved in sex crimes, trafficked huge amounts of drugs, and even committed murder. Some admit that they broke the law, while others continue to maintain their innocence. Either way, they are still behind bars.

Shannon Richardson
Shannon Richardson, a former actress, was given an 18-year sentence in 2013 and has been in jail since then. She is set to be released in 2029 and isn’t eligible for parole.
Her crime was that she mailed threatening, poison-laced letters to then-president of the United States Barack Obama and two other people. Then, she tried to frame her husband for the crime by planting pieces of evidence in his car and lunch box.
Other shreds of evidence were the fact that she bought supplies for the plot using a credit card and account under her husband’s name. The actress, who is popular for her role in the The Walking Dead series, mailed the letters to Obama, New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, and a man named Michael Glaze, who was employed by Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
Richardson wrote about gun control in the letters and tried to set up her husband for the crime, but despite her attempt to frame him, she was arrested in 2013 and eventually given an 18-year sentence.
She made the poison ricin using castor beans in the home she shared with her husband and four children. She was also pregnant while making the concoction.
Michael Jace
Michael Jace, known for his role in the television police drama The Shield, was sentenced to 40 years in prison for murder in 2014.
CNN reported that the actor shot his wife, April Jace, in front of their two children in their Los Angeles home in 2014.
On 19 May 2014, April returned to their home, and Jace shot her several times while their sons, ages eight and five, looked on. After the incident, he called 911 and his father-in-law and admitted to the crime.
The couple had a custody case in 2005, and then, one of April’s friends revealed in a sworn statement that Jace had a history of violent behavior. According to the friend, he had choked and hit his wife, slamming her against the wall.
Ricardo Medina
According to USA Today, the Power Rangers star bagged six years in prison in 2017 for killing his roommate with a sword two years earlier.
In 2015, Medina and his roommate, Sutter, had an argument in their home in Los Angeles, reportedly over the actor’s girlfriend. The actor and his girlfriend reportedly locked themselves in Medina’s bedroom, and Sutter broke the door to gain entry. This was when the actor stabbed him.
Bill Cosby
Bill Cosby had been accused of sexual assault many times, and somehow, he always got away with it. In 2006, he settled one accuser out of court.
However, things took a bad shape for the former Cosby Show star when comedian Hannibal Buress mentioned in a 2014 stand-up routine that he had a reputation of raping women.

Not long after, a string of women began revealing that the actor forced himself upon them without their consent. Supermodel Janice Dickinson also came out. She told Entertainment Tonight that he plied her with wine and a pill before assaulting her.
It didn’t end there. In 2015, additional women opened up about being raped by Cosby, with New York Magazine interviewing about 35 of them. Then in 2016, a Pennsylvania judge decreed that there was enough evidence for a criminal trial against Cosby.
Cosby has denied all the allegations. In a 2019 interview, he stated that he would rather stay in prison for a decade than admit to something he didn’t do.
