The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have signed an agreement with Ondo State government to establish a plant capable of storing 65 million liters of bio fuel in Okeluse area of the state.
The Managing Director of the group Dr. Maikanti Baru had in a conversation with the Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu stated the impact the establishment will have on the state. He estimated that the plant will help solve at least the unemployment plight of the populace by providing a million jobs both directly and indirectly. Also, there was to be an influx of Foreign Direct Investments into the area and the Cassava feed stock production plan will enhance Agricultural produce.
The GMD also assured the Governor that the negative effects of Green house pollution due to burning of the bio fuels to generate energy will be properly managed and not reduce the availability of cassava for consumption.
The Governor promised the NNPC board that there were enough cassava farms to supply the plant to keep it working.
