A new Diana has been born into the royal family as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry name their daughter after his mother. Her full name is Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
Diana was born on Friday, 4 June 2021, in Santa Barbara, California, but the couple chose to wait two days before making the announcement. Fondly called ‘Lili’ by her parents, the newest member of the royal family weighed 7 lbs 11 oz at birth.
A spokesperson for the family confirmed that ‘both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home’. The name ‘Lilbert’ was a family nickname for the child’s great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

Harry had hinted at a female child giving him a sense of completeness. “… to have a boy and then a girl, what more can you ask for? Now we’ve got our family. We’ve got the four of us and our two dogs, and it’s great,” he said, as quoted by Vanity Fair.
