Former child star Matthew Mindler who starred in Our Idiot Brother, and was found dead after he went missing from college in August 2021 has been confirmed dead by suicide.
Eric Bieber from Lancaster County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center confirmed the cause of the 19-year-old star’s death to USA TODAY on Thursday, 14 October 2021. According to him, the child star died from suicide by sodium nitrate toxicity.
Mindler, who was a student of Millersville University in Pennsylvania, didn’t return to his room one night in late August 2021 and the University reported him missing. Later that week, the University’s president, Daniel A. Wubah announced that Mindler had been found dead with his body discovered in a wooded area near campus.
Before enrolling into the university, Matthew Mindler appeared in multiple TV shows and movies as a child actor, including As the World Turns, Late Show With David Letterman, and Last Week Tonight With John Oliver.
His mother, Monica Mindler, said that he ordered the sodium nitrate that killed him. According to Deadline, she added that she discovered the Amazon connection while looking at her son’s internet search history after his death.
Matthew Mindler had looked up information on buying sodium nitrate and how it was used to end life painlessly, then he ordered enough to kill four people. His mother said that she spoke about it because she wanted to warn families who may be unaware of the dangers of the substance.

Stephanie Adams
Stephanie Adams was a former Playboy model who committed suicide in May 2018. According to New York City police, before taking her life, the model pushed her 7-year-old son, Vincent, out of the 25th-floor window at the Gotham Hotel.
A medical examiner ruled Vincent’s death a homicide due to multiple blunt impact injuries to the head, neck, torso, and extremities, while Adam’s death was ruled a suicide due to multiple blunt impact injuries.
Before killing herself and her son, Adams was in a divorce and custody battle with her estranged husband, Dr. Charles Nicolai, who owns the New York medical center Wall Street Chiropractic & Wellness.
Her lawyer friend, Raoul Felder, told NBC New York that Adams had been facing some personal issues due to the custody battle that was ongoing at the time. According to Raoul, the court denied her request to take her son abroad to Spain and England over the summer.
However, Felder said Adams didn’t appear to be depressed by the situation. He said, “It’s one of the things that happened that’s inexplicable. She was not morose. She submerged her life in that child’s life. Everybody in my office was crying when they heard about it.”
Azadeh Namdari
Azadeh Namdari was an Iranian actress and television host who enjoyed popularity among some segments of Iranian society, particularly religious traditionalists, for her vocal advocacy of the Islamic hijab and trying to be the voice of the country’s pious young women.
However, In July 2017, a video recording showing her in a park in Switzerland without the traditional hijab while drinking a bottle of beer circulated on social media. This caused a raging controversy with many Iranians taking to social media platforms to criticize her perceived ‘hypocrisy,’ while others came forward to defend her right to privacy.
A few years later, Azadeh Namdari was found dead in her apartment in the Saadatabad area in western Tehran on 26 March 2021 at the age of 36. According to Iranian news outlets, her body was discovered 24 hours after her death. Mehr News Agency quoted an “informed source” as saying that the cause of death was suicide.
Sushant Singh Rajput
Sushant Singh Rajput was an Indian actor who was known for his work in Hindi cinema. He starred in a number of commercially successful Bollywood films such as M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016), Kedarnath (2018), and Chhichhore (2019).
On 14 June 2020 Rajput who was aged 34, was found dead hanging from the ceiling fan in his home in Bandra, Mumbai. The actor had reportedly shown signs of clinical depression and was suffering from bipolar disorder before his death.
The postmortem report stated that the cause of death was “asphyxia due to hanging,” and called it a clear case of suicide, and no foul play was found.
According to an estimated global rate of suicide, one person in 5,000–15,000 dies by suicide every year, and slowly it is becoming one of the leading causes of death. As suicide continues to rise, it’s becoming quite pertinent that the world is informed about depression.
This is because some of the people who end up taking their own lives are people who seem to have it all – fame, wealth, and affluence – so, this lets us know that most people who seem fine and well do not have it all together.
