Twilight Saga star Kristen Stewart is set to marry her girlfriend, Dylan Meyer, after revealing on The Howard Stern that they are now engaged.
After a couple of failed relationships with both genders, Stewart, who identifies as bisexual, started dating screenwriter Dylan Meyer in August of 2019. Before then, she had been with New Zealand model Stella Maxwell, visual effects producer Alicia Cargile, and American actors Robert Pattinson and Michael Angarano.
Speaking about her engagement to Meyer, Stewart said, “We’re marrying, we’re totally gonna do it. I wanted to be proposed to, so I think I very distinctly carved out what I wanted, and she nailed it. We’re marrying, it’s happening.”
“I want to stay home; I want to be in L.A. so everyone can come and, I want it to be pretty chill. I don’t want anyone walking anyone down any aisles like we’re just gonna stand, do vows,” she said, describing her vision for the event.
Congratulations are in order then, and we wish them a blissful marriage in advance.
Speaking of gay couples, I’m sure you know the showbiz industry has a good number of them. How about a list of five celebrity gay couples? Have a look.
1. Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor
American actress Sarah Paulson has been with her partner since 2015. Before then, she had dated Tony Award-winning actress Cherry Jones for five years. Paulson had only ever dated men before her relationship with Jones, and she said in an interview with Broadway that it was a fluid situation for her. In a later interview with The New York Times, she had this to say, “If my life choices had to be predicated based on what was expected of me from a community on either side, that’s going to make me feel really straitjacketed, and I don’t want to feel that.” Holland Taylor is also an actress and a playwright who has won a Primetime Emmy Award. She is 32 years older than Paulson.

2. Billy Porter and Adam Smith
Porter came out as gay at the age of 16, right in the thick of the AIDS crisis. He first met Adam Smith in 2009, and they both had a fling and left it at that. However, they remained friends and eventually revisited their relationship. This time, it was for the long haul. Billy and Adam got married in 2017 within two weeks of getting engaged, as Billy was very keen to get married ‘while Obama was still president and before January 20th, 2017.’
3. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi
Renowned all-round entertainer Ellen Degeneres came out as a lesbian in 1997 to a frenzy of American tabloids. Her coming out didn’t do her career any favors at the time, as the controversy stunted her growth. Ellen and Portia de Rossi started dating in 2004 but couldn’t take things any further due to laws against same-sex marriages. They eventually got married in 2008 after the ban was lifted. Later in 2010, de Rossi filed a petition to legally change her name to Portia Lee James DeGeneres. Her request was granted a month later (in September). Ellen has said marrying Portia has been her greatest achievement.

4. Elton John and David Furnish
Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, famous British singer and songwriter Sir Elton John is married to Canadian filmmaker David Furnish. They started dating in 1993, and in 2005 they were among the first couples to form a civil partnership in the United Kingdom. They eventually got married in 2014, on the ninth anniversary of their Civil Partnership. This was after same-sex marriage became legal in the UK. The couple has two sons, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John and Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John (both born through surrogacy).
5. Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak
Multiple Primetime Emmy award winner and The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons was declared gay in 2012 by the New York Times. The publication claimed that he had been in a relationship for ten years. After years of dating, Jim and his partner, art director Todd Spiewak tied the knot in 2017. Of their relationship, Todd says, “It is an act of love, coffee in the morning, going to work, washing the clothes, taking the dogs out—a regular life, boring love.”
